About the specialty

Ophthalmology

Ophthalmologists are doctors who perform comprehensive eye examinations, prescribe corrective devices such as glasses or contact lenses, treat eye infections and inflammations, and perform surgical procedures for conditions such as cataracts, glaucoma, retinal detachment, and others.

How can you prepare for an eye exam at our clinic?

  • Bring your glasses or contact lenses—if you wear them, be sure to bring them with you.
  • List of Medications – Write down what medications you are taking.
  • Your medical history—think back to when you last had an eye exam and bring all your medical records, even if they aren't related to your eyes.
  • Your questions—feel free to ask about anything that interests you.
  • Time – Set aside 1 hour for a comprehensive exam, and 1 hour and 15 minutes for an initial dry eye exam.

Which patients should see us regularly?

  • Children—6 months, 1 year, 3–4 years, and preschoolers
  • People with diabetes – once a year
  • Over 50 years old – every 2 years
  • Over 60 years old – every year
  • Patients with autoimmune diseases and thyroid problems – every year
  • If you have high blood pressure, high cholesterol, or atherosclerosis—every year
  • If you have a family history of glaucoma or macular degeneration—every year

Call: 0882 12 12 16
When should I see an ophthalmologist?
A visit is recommended if you experience vision problems, pain, redness, blurred vision, double vision, dryness, watery eyes, or sudden loss of vision. A preventive eye exam is recommended once a year.
What happens during an eye exam?
The examination includes an assessment of visual acuity, measurement of intraocular pressure, examination of the anterior and posterior segments of the eye, and, if necessary, additional tests such as a CT scan, OCT, or fluorescein angiography.
What is a cataract, and how is it treated?
A cataract is a clouding of the eye's natural lens. Treatment is surgical—involving the removal of the clouded lens and the implantation of an artificial one.
How can I prepare for an eye exam?
Bring your glasses or contact lenses, if you use them, and a list of all the medications you are taking. It is possible that after the exam, due to the special eye drops, you may not be able to see clearly for a few hours.
